Franks Portlock is delighted to be associated with Historic Environment Scotland (formerly Historic Scotland). To date, we have surveyed a vast majority of the portfolio of monument and listed buildings, attractions, visitors centres and administrative buildings overseen by Historic Scotland before its merger with the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.

We were commissioned to conduct surveys within a wide range of buildings across the whole of the country, including the islands. Initially we undertook a period of review and consultancy. The works took place out of season over the winter months and as such there were logistical issues to overcome in visiting each site, which meant planning was critical in the delivery.

As part of our works we’ve also conducted surveys and air testing works at Edinburgh Castle and a complete management survey of the Palace of Holyrood.

We continue our association with this organisation, providing refurbishment surveys as works require.
