Stephen Portlock – Director
Stephen established Franks Portlock with Phil Franks in 2006. As company director, Stephen is responsible for allocating and coordinating the work undertaken by Franks Portlock.
Prior to Franks Portlock, Stephen worked at Ensecon Laboratories where he began as a survey analyst before being promoted to regional manager and then operations manager.

Phil Franks – Director
Phil established the company with Stephen Portlock in 2006. As well as being responsible for Franks Portlock’s technical operations, Phil works on business development, and oversees marketing and sales activity. He has also recently established the company’s research and development division.
Prior to founding Franks Portlock, Phil worked at Ensecon Laboratories as a quality manager for four years and within the wider environmental testing field prior to that.

James New – Director of Nuclear Services
James has worked for Franks Portlock since March 2010, when he joined the company as a quality manager. As Director of Nuclear Services, he is primarily responsible for overseeing the work Franks Portlock conducts at the Sellafield nuclear site. This includes site management; contract and commercial management for the Sellafield Asbestos Analysis Contract; business development, and management of the analytical and survey project works for the chemical and energy sectors.
James works at the forefront of developments and improvements in the asbestos management sector.
Prior to his role at Franks Portlock, James has eight years experience carrying out asbestos surveys. testing and project management.

Richard Haigh – Operations Manager (Asbestos Consultancy)
Richard has been in position since November 2019 and joined the company with a wealth of experience in all aspects of asbestos consultancy, inspection and testing activities gained over 17+ years.
He has oversight of all the asbestos consultancy arm of the business – ensuring works are correctly scoped, priced and delivered as specified – and heads up the regional teams.

Sean Green – Head of Business Operations (Water Hygiene)
Sean Green joined Franks Portlock in 2019 to establish and spearhead the delivery of our water hygiene services. This includes managing and delivering a range of water hygiene consultancy services from client training, compliance management, risk assessment, monitoring, design and supply, rectification, modification and maintenance of hot and cold water systems, in line with ACOP L8 (2013), HSG274 parts 1, 2 & 3 and (HTM 04-01).
With more than 29 years’ experience in the water hygiene and treatment industry, Sean is a member of the Water Management Society, the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme and Approved Plumbers’ Scheme.
Industry qualifications: City and Guilds BS2 Control of Legionella in Hot and Cold Water Systems, City and Guilds BS4 Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment of Water Systems within Buildings and IOSH Managing Safety and Water Supply Fitting Regulation.
Nicola Warburton – Quality & Environmental Manager
Nicola joined Franks Portlock in 2008 as a lab analyst. She has moved up through the business to become Quality Manager, responsible for the management our company SHEQ systems, as required by the relevant international standards, and adapting them to changes in guidance.
She tightly controls QC schemes and auditing schedules, coordinating the efforts of appropriate staff to ensure that our systems and processes continually and demonstrably improve.
As a vastly experienced bulk analyst for 14 years, she also oversees the technical competency of this element of the business and is responsible for training new lab analysts.
