Asbestos training supports Wearside respite centre

Franks Portlock Consultancy Limited is delighted to offer businesses and individuals the chance to support a local children’s charity while achieving asbestos awareness certification.

We are hosting an asbestos awareness training event at Grace House Short Break and Respite Centre in Southwick, Sunderland and is donating all the course fees received on the day to the charity.

Asbestos awareness training is mandatory for those who are likely to come in to contact with Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs), such as construction industry workers who may disturb the fabric of buildings, people who work on contaminated land and anyone maintaining a building that may be affected by asbestos.

On Friday 23 February 2018, we will provide a comprehensive, half day, UKATA Asbestos Awareness training session at a discounted price of £20. Delegates will undertake training that is compliant with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and those who are successful will receive a UKATA certificate of training that is valid for one year.

Lawrence Clack, commercial manager at Franks Portlock Consulting Limited, said: “It’s essential that individuals who are likely to come into contact with asbestos can work safely and competently without causing risk to themselves or others. Anyone who completes our accredited training course can be sure that they are fully aware of the dangers of asbestos as well as follow the correct procedures in the event of exposure.

“In addition to becoming UKATA certified, those who join us for this training event will also contribute to a fantastic local charity, Grace House, which provides a fun, safe and exciting environment for children and young people from across the North East, with complex disabilities and health needs.”

Victoria Brown, chief executive officer at Grace House, added: “In addition to the services we offer to children, young people and their families, we have fantastic space available to hire including meeting rooms and rest and relaxation rooms.

“By using our premises to host the asbestos training, Franks Portlock and the event delegates will be directly supporting our charity and we look forward to welcoming them to Grace House.”
