Franks Portlock strengthens team with new appointment

We are pleased to announce that we have a new Bulk Analyst at our Rosyth office, to strengthen the team and increase local business opportunities.

Joanne Skinner was appointed as Trainee Bulk Analyst in September 2018 and upon her appointment last year, she began training (under the guidance of senior staff members) towards her BOHS P401 qualification – Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples. Although Joanne had no previous experience in the asbestos management industry, she passed the exam in December and is now working and gaining experience as a Bulk Analyst in our Rosyth-based Bulk Laboratory.

Her role is varied and day to day entails a mixture of responsibilities including analysis of bulk samples from a variety of buildings/environments and assisting in the production and completion of lab reports.

Speaking of her appointment, Joanne said: “I am new to the asbestos management industry, having worked in a clerical role for a law firm for the past 12 years, I wanted a change of career and to do something a bit more hands on. Franks Portlock is a very well established and reputable company and I didn’t hesitate when they asked me to join them.
“After a long period of training and constant QC checking I’m looking forward to implementing my knowledge and actively working on live projects now that I am qualified and authorised. Going forward, I will conduct lab analysis on asbestos samples in-house at our Rosyth office, this local offering will streamline our turnaround times and increase efficiencies for our Scotland-based projects.”
